Police Stop Drivers, Ticket in Maryland for Cell Phone Use – Points if Traffic Accident

Maryland police will be able to pull over drivers with a cell phone in hand or to their ear starting Oct. 1.  Previously, police needed another reason to stop a driver before issuing a distracted driving ticket.  No points will be assessed unless the violation contributes to a crash.
